COMPASS Q Score: 2026 Q Score Methodology

TORONTO — September 30, 2026 — COMPASS by Bespoke Metrics, a leading construction prequalification and risk management platform, today announced the release of the 2026 COMPASS Q Score Methodology, which describes the COMPASS Q Score framework, its purpose, inputs, and analytical approach.

The Methodology documents the framework underlying the Q Score, including the information considered within its Finance, Business, and Health & Safety Sections. It also explains how relevant measures are evaluated and how each section contributes to the Q Score.

The COMPASS Q Score is the Construction Credit Score that provides a standardized, independent assessment of a subcontractor. The Q Score is based on a subcontractor’s operational expertise, financial capacity, and health & safety track record. It provides General Contractors with a consistent starting point for prequalification and a benchmark that can be used alongside other information when assessing a subcontractor. The COMPASS Q Score reflects a subcontractor’s Credit Profile, ranging from Q1 (Outstanding) to Q7 (Poor). The Q Score should be viewed as two broad categories: Q1–Q3 as Green and Q4–Q7 as Yellow. Together, the Q Score and its associated color coding distinguish subcontractor Credit Profiles and indicate the appropriate level of review.

The release of the COMPASS Q Score Methodology reflects Bespoke Metrics’ continued commitment to improving the consistency, reliability, and transparency of subcontractor assessments across the construction industry. By documenting and publishing the framework behind the Q Score, the Methodology provides greater transparency into the standardized approach used to assess subcontractors and how the Q Score and its associated color coding distinguish subcontractor Credit Profiles and indicate the appropriate level of review during prequalification.

“More General Contractors are incorporating the Q Score into their prequalification processes, including automated decision-making. With that growing adoption comes a responsibility to make sure the industry understands what the Q Score is and the framework behind it.”
